The Detentions Processing Division is comprised of four separate units/work areas:
- Custody Information
- Custody Processing
- Property Storage
- Pretrial Unit
Each unit is unique in its mission and adheres to the standards set forth in the San Diego County Sheriff’s Detentions Policies and Procedures, Detentions Processing Division Manuals, and all applicable State and Federal law regulations.
Detentions Processing Division personnel is assigned to one of the seven Sheriff’s Department Detention Facilities. Our staff provides assistance and specialized services to governmental agencies and to the citizens and professional members of our community. Most of our facilities are operational 24 hours a day, 7 days per week and personnel assigned to these facilities are available to respond to organizational needs at all times. They are responsible for a myriad of duties that affect the custody status and property of over 5,000 incarcerated persons per day.
The Detentions Processing Division performs a vital role in accomplishing the goals of the Detention Services Bureau serving as a nexus of custodial information, providing quality customer service to members of the public and professional communities.
