The Sheriff's Range Guard is responsible for insuring adherence to County ordinances, rules, and regulations concerning the Sheriff's Firearms Range(s).  Duties include providing information to the public regarding location and operation of facilities, scheduling use of the range, recording all agencies and individuals using range and equipment, monitoring use of the range for compliance of department standard safety rules and regulations, performing minor facility maintenance and repair, and performing security checks on Sheriff's canine left over night on the facility.

1. Possession of a valid Guard Registration card issued by the Bureau of Collection and Investigative Services, Department of Consumer Affairs, State of California; AND,
   
   
2. Possession of a valid Bureau-issued Firearms Qualification Card in order to carry an exposed firearm; AND,
   
   
3. One (1) year of experience as a Security Guard providing protective services to people or property and/or preventing theft of property or similar related experience in the U.S. military police, or law enforcement community providing protective services to people or property.

Certifications/Registrations

• Possession of a valid Guard Registration card issued by the Bureau of Collection and Investigative Services, Department of Consumer Affairs, State of California is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment.
  
  
• Possession of a valid Bureau-issued Firearms Qualification Card in order to carry an exposed firearm while on duty is required and must be acquired prior to appointment, and maintained throughout employment

After a successful interview the candidate will be invited to begin the Background Process which includes but is not limited to a background check, professional and personal reference check, Computer Voice Stress Analysis (CVSA) test and pass a medical examination. Offers of employment are not given until the Background Process is passed and complete.
