After successfully passing the written exam for Deputy Sheriff Detentions/Courts or Deputy Sheriff Law Enforcement, candidates will receive a notification of their score via e-mail. At the time of receiving your passing score, you will also be able to schedule your Pre-Investigative Questionnaire Orientation (PIQ). IF you pass PIQ, you will be assigned a background investigator with instructions on how to contact him or her, along with a Personal History Statement Packet (PHS) to fill out . Your background investigator will then be your main point-of-contact throughout the remainder of the hiring process. He or She will schedule the remainder of interviews/appointments for you. Personal History Statement (PHS)
The Sheriff’s Department uses a Personal History Statement (PHS) to learn more about its candidates for the position of Deputy Sheriff and/or Deputy Sheriff Detentions/Courts Cadet.
PLEASE NOTE:
- IF you pass PIQ, you will be given instructions by your background investigator on how to fill out the PHS online. Please DO NOT BRING your pre-filled PHS to your background pre-screen, it will not be accepted!
Required Documents
The following are documents you can start preparing for your background investigation:
- Driver’s License AND Social Security Card
- Birth Certificate OR Certificate of Naturalization
- US High School Diploma - US High School diploma and/or GED certificate with test score or high school proficiency certificate
- College Diploma(s)
- All High School and All College School Transcripts - Official and sealed
- Military DD214 OR Selective Service Registration card
- Marriage Certificate OR Divorce Decree paperwork
- Name Changes - All documents reflecting name changes from birth certificate
- Legal Documents - Complete documentation relating to any civil, criminal, or bankruptcy proceedings
- Proof of Vehicle Insurance Declaration AND Vehicle Registration
- Rental Contract
