• Veterans interested in preference points need to email their long-form DD-214 to jobs@sdcounty.ca.gov for evaluation/eligibility.
• If you have a service-connected disability, you may be eligible for disability points.
• If you are eligible for the VA GI Bill, you can earn a salary while receiving on-the-job training.
• After the academy, reservists receive gap pay coverage while deployed or in military training.
• Reservists will also receive thirty paid days of leave for military training.
• If you are in the reserves and are deployed, you will earn vacation, sick time and compensatory time. The time you are deployed counts towards your years of service.
• Our command structure is similar to the military. The familiarity makes for a smoother transition.
